We are excited to announce our 2016 Rising Star Award Recipient, Madison Davenport.
At the young age of 19, Madison Davenport is already an industry veteran, having built an impressive resume since the age of 7. This past holiday season Madison was seen in the Universal comedy “Sisters” (December 18, 2015) opposite Tina Fey and Amy Phoehler. The story is about two middle-aged sisters who decide to throw one last house party before their parents sell their family home. In the film, Madison plays ‘Hayley,' the teenage daughter to Fey’s character, who is frustrated at the fact that her mom acts more like a child and less like an adult. The film is directed by Jason Moore ("Pitch Perfect") and was a box office hit.
Also in 2015, she had the lead role opposite Taryn Manning (“Orange Is the New Black”) in the indie feature “A Light Beneath Their Feet.” Davenport’s talent has been showcased at film festivals around the country, and she has earned kudos for her role. The coming-of-age dramedy follows a high school senior (Davenport) who must choose between escaping to the college of her dreams or staying close to home to take care of her bipolar mother (Manning). The movie was directed by Valerie Weiss (“Losing Control”) from a script by Moira McMahon Leeper and produced by Rob Johnson and executive produced by Jeffrey Loeb. The movie shot on location in Chicago.
Davenport recently started production on the third season of the already cult classic “From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series.” Robert Rodriguez’s TV series is a continuation of the 1996 hit film of the same name that starred George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino as the criminal Gecko brothers. The series continues the hunt of a Texas Ranger (Don Johnson) who is in hot pursuit of the Gecko brothers (this time played by DJ Cotrano and Zane Holtz) who are stealing money, taking prisoners and fighting vampires. The series also has an impressive co-star lineup that includes Don Johnson and Wilmer Valderrama. Madison’s character, ‘Kate’ (played by Juliet Lewis in the original movie), is the teenage daughter of Jacob Fuller. The show airs on Rodriguez’s new cable channel, El Rey Network.
Madison's credits also include her strong supporting role of ‘Na’el’ in Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic “Noah,” where she shared the screen with Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson and Anthony Hopkins, playing the love interest of Logan Lerman’s character. Her other recent credits include NBC’s comedy “Save Me” in which she played Anne Heche’s daughter, ‘Emily.’ She was most recently seen in features starring opposite Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgewick in Lionsgate’s supernatural horror flick, “The Possession,” which had a successful run achieving #1 at the box office two weekends in a row. On the small screen, Madison is most known for her role on the hit Showtime series “Shameless” in which she delivered a memorable performance for two seasons portraying the fan favorite character of ‘Ethel,’ a child-bride in a religious cult who was rescued and put into thefoster care system.
At the age of 5, Madison was inspired to pursue her love of acting and singing after being involved with her local community theater in Texas. Since then, she has guest starred on “Numb3rs,” “Bones,” “ER,” “CSI,” “House,” the pilot “Close to Home” and the TV movie “Amish Grace.” Her breakout performance as ‘Ruthie’ in the HBO films release “Kit Kittredge,” the first feature film in the American Girl franchise, garnered her the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in 2009.
